The 2010 New Zealand Carpet Cleaners Conference held at Cleaning Systems Ltd was a huge success!
Delegates and guests had an action packed 2 days of information and hands-on practical sessions, culminating in an auction event which saw members of the delegation walk away with some fantastic bargains.
Rosemary Pritchard, Managing Director and owner of Cleaning Systems, opened the 2010 biannual conference with a reminder that even though the industry has been suffering with the economic downturn, now is not the time to be closed off to new information, technology and ideas. She referrred to the National Business Review and their fundamentals about listening carefully to what customers want and need, and being open to new opportunities for development and diversity to encourage business growth.

The afternoon sessions on Day 1 of the conference saw the delegates divided into action groups and experience different areas of industry technology.
Ralph Holah, Sales and Aftercare Specialist for CSL, introduced the groups to Ultrasonics. A relatively new advancement in the cleaning industry in New Zealand, Cleaning Systems are now the agent for Morantz range of Ultrasonic equipment.
Andy Ferguson, experienced business owner and part time Trainer for CSL, thoroughly immersed his groups in advanced carpet stain removal techniques. Delegates were also introduced to the latest releases in carpet fibre technology and their effect on the ability to adequately clean soiling deposits.
David McPharlin, CSL's National Sales Manager, was assisted by the owner of DriAir; Paul Allen, in demonstrating effective water restoration and drying techniques using waterclaws and airmovement. Delegates relished the opportunity for discussion during the session with fantastic sharing of knowledge amongst the participants.
Day 2 was a workshop style session where participants were encouraged to take a hands-on approach to learning. With the welcome assistance of some of CSL's most experienced customers in the Carpet Cleaning and Restoration Industry, the atmosphere was one of opportunity,education and imparting of knowledge.
Three of the Hydramaster range of Truckmounts were on working display; Boxxer 318, Boxxer 323 (the new kid on the block), and the Titan 575. CSL's service and workshop team of Wade Simmons (Workshop Manager) and Jono Paitai (Service Technician) were on hand to answer questions and demonstrate the performance aspects of the 3 machines.
Tom Lundy; Sales Manager for Karcher NZ, directed a practical and theoretical workshop about high pressure waterblasters and their application in the cleaning industry.
Encapsulation Technology was given the hands-on treatment as Truvox Cimex went head-to-head with Karcher in a showroom demonstration. Delegates new to the Carpet Cleaning industry were exposed to this method of soiling removal whereby the particles are "encapsulated" and crystallized by the application of specific chemicals and subsequent aggitation technique. Jae Services South Otago owner, John Brosnan shared his wealth of knowledge on this technique and was a valuable participant in the demonstration.
